2010 NY Mets Opening Day Recap
Sadly, I was unable to attend the 2010 Mets home opener at Citi Field this year and was forced to watch the game from my wonderfully awesome slingbox. I am glad I tuned in however as it was a great game with Johan Santana pitching 6 strong innings, David Wright showing opposite field strength with a 2-run blast and the new guy Jason Bay slapping a triple in his NY debut. Rod Barrajas had 2 hits and it was great to see some new faces getting their jobs done.
Hopefully Jose Reyes’ thyroid issue clears up quickly and he gets back on the diamond quickly as it looks like pitching is going to be a bugaboo for the Metsies this year. Outside of Santana, we don’t have another premiere starter which will make it very difficult for the Mets to compete in the ultra competitive NL East. We do have some power in the line-up and when Beltran gets back it should help the pitching staff with run support but I am pretty nervous about the 2, 3, 4 and 5 starters. Looks like we will have to see what happens and I hope I am wrong! Go Mets!
